A journey of advocating for visibility, dignity, and inclusion within the maritime industry.
Our Goal.
Following the momentum and impact of the forum, I Exist Too was formally registered as a charity. The organisation was created to continue the work that began in Panama: building awareness, fostering dialogue, and advocating for greater visibility and equality within the maritime community.
I Exist Too aims to provide a platform where individuals can share their experiences, where conversations about inclusion can grow, and where meaningful change can be supported across the global maritime sector.
The Beginning…
I Exist Too was established following the success of the I Exist Too Forum, held in May 2023 in Panama. The forum brought together leading maritime industry professionals, academics, human rights advocates, diplomats, and representatives from United Nations agencies.
The goal was to address an issue that had long been overlooked: the visibility, inclusion, and protection of LGBTIQ+ individuals within the maritime industry.
The conversations, ideas, and collaborations that emerged during the forum demonstrated a clear need for a dedicated organisation committed to supporting and advocating for LGBTIQ+ people working across maritime sectors worldwide.
Together, we are working toward a maritime industry where everyone can feel safe, valued, and proud to be themselves.

Support greater access to opportunities and strengthen career development pathways for LGBTIQ+ individuals working in maritime sectors.

Encourage the development and implementation of inclusive policies and action frameworks that protect the rights, dignity, and safety of LGBTIQ+ people across the maritime industry.

Promote innovation, development, and the continued growth of the maritime industry through diverse, inclusive, and respectful participation of human talent.
